Somehow my little brother being older than me is the simple bit.

[He'd picked up the not liking to be still, hence the suggestion. He leads her through the house towards the back, and call over his shoulder-]

Right. He's still your brother.

But there's all these other people from the past, who you may or may not have even heard of.

How much has Anakin told you about our family?

[Learning who her biological grandmother was was... a surprise]

Some, but not lots of personal stories.

I met your mother and Bail Organa back home, actually, on Rebel missions. And Obi-wan.

And then - [He hesitates.] I was somewhere else for most of a year. Somewhere a little like this, whether people ended up from all over time and space. I met Obi-wan, again, a version from right after the Empire rose. And then...Padmé Amidala.

Wow, all of them?

[She pauses a moment to digest the rest of that]

I knew who she was before I got here just not... who she was.

[Ezra stills, mid-stride and turns to stare at her-]

I....had to tell Luke, here, she was his birth mother, because I mentioned her. I'd just assumed he knew already. Because, well, Anakin Skywalker was already here, as well as Obi-wan.

[It's never occurred him they wouldn't talk about her.]

And he asked if that was someone he should know -

Did - did no one....ever?

[She shakes her head]

None of the people who knew ever got a chance to tell Mom or Uncle Luke.

[She'd rather not go into the details of why, but it's a war, he can probably guess.

Well, some of it.]

I read about her in history class.

[He knows how Luke's aunt and uncle, Padme, Obi-wan, and Vader all die - slowly collected these bits of information over the last year and a half.

He's figured that Bail and Breha hadn't lived long enough for their grandchildren to know them, although he doesn't know any details, there.

He just nods sadly.]

I didn't know who she is before I met her.

I was uh, an orphan, until my first master took me in. Kinda lacking in formal education like history classes.

I don't think they would have taught much about her in your time, anyway.

Things get better.

[Ezra offers her a smile.]

I believe you, and I'm very glad.

[Just a little sad that apparently he's not around to see it, except for here, in this way.]

So all that was weird enough.

But then there's Kylo Ren.

Yeah.

Do you know what his deal is? That's...he's not your twin with a new name, is he?

He's not Jacen. That's the one thing I'm sure about.

[SHe'd know Jacen anywhere, she's sure, even across universes.]

Uncle Luke said he's my parents' son from another universe, but that's all I know.

Oh. [Ezra nods slowly.]

Split in the timelines. That...happens. I hadn't realized we have that in the mix, aside from us being here, and my previous experience with weirdness and space and time.

There goes my dominant timeline theory, I guess.

Yeah, it's weird.

And then... he knew I'm a Solo, but he didn't say anything.

[Also he doesn't go by Solo or even by Organa which is a little odd. It's all odd.]

[With a sympathetic sigh-]

That part doesn't surprise me. He wasn't willing to talk about why, but he told me flat out that he wants nothing to do with his birth family.

[He rolls his eyes.] Said some stuff about how we don't get to pick our families.

[Which makes no sense at all, to Ezra.]

And that I shouldn't or wouldn't want to be any family of his.

Which...his choice, but seems like a pretty sad and lonely way to be, to me.

That just...

[She definitely doesn't have her mother's gift for words, especially after a revelation like that. Even if it explains why he doesn't use the Solo name]

My brothers and I haven't exactly had a normal childhood, but we always knew our parents loved us. I can't imagine them doing anything that would make someone want out.

I don't know, Jaina. Sometimes things get really hard, even if there's love.

And just because you love someone, doesn't mean that they'll believe you.

[He hesitates, before he adds.]

A lot of people have loved Anakin Skywalker. I have no doubt it that it wasn't just Obi-wan, out of the Jedi, that thought of him as family.

[He spreads his hands helplessly.]

Everything is just so... complicated.

[She thought it was complicated before but here with all the timelines... it's worse]

Even the stuff I thought I had figured out is more confusing now. And I'm always dealing with half the information.

I'm sorry. I wish I could make it simpler, or easier.

[He shifts to try to look her in the eye, and give her a small smile.]

I can give you the same deal I've offered the rest of your family. Although - I think this is the time I've put it all together in so many words.

I will try to not just dump information on you. But you can ask me anything. If I think I need to keep a confidence to protect someone or if I don't know, I'll tell you. I will never willingly and in my right mind, lie to you.

You have my support, as long as you want it. Whether you want that to make us family or not, is up to you.
