I was formerly Paleblooded, whose powers tend to be mental, emotional or psychic in nature. When I became Vileblooded during the shedding ceremony, it became more physical. I still retain my second sight, but that is natural to who I am. Object reading, however, is no longer mine to do.
I am available at your discretion. I keep my own hours at the shop, so I can make it flexible for you. If you'd like, I'll head over sometime today or tomorrow and we can meet at a fitting time.
Oh. Huh. I'm a paleblood. There are Jedi with strong psychometry - one of my padawan brothers has it. It's usually considered more of an inborn talent that you hone, than something you can learn.
All I've ever gotten is emotional impressions off of things. [And even before he really understood why, he's always worn gloves.] But then, I haven't really tried since I got here.
On the other hand, I've always had visions of the near future and present.
Let me make some arrangements, and we can meet up tomorrow?
It is for my people as well. So, having it through the blood was the only way I could have it previously. [She shrugged and listened to him.] But if you have even impressions like those? That might be useful for this. The force isn't something I understand well.
I look forward to it, Ezra. We will figure something out.
"It could almost be a Jedi parable," he says out loud, thoughtfully. "Except, Force bonds aren't usually frowned on as inherently attachment that leads to suffering. Or...if they ever have been, I don't know about it."
He huffs. "I say, like I'm any kind of expert. Something like 30 thousand years of history, even if I had access to the Jedi Archives, and spent the rest of my life studying, I couldn't call myself that."
"My awareness of your force is largely through conversation with Maul and Obi-Wan. Their perspectives are both very ... biased at times, and I am afraid I can't make head or tails of it." She shook her head. It wasn't something she really comprehended, even if she understood the philosophical difference between Sith and Jedi well enough. "Personally, though, Mother Mercy's perspective is likely even more biased than that, by a wide margin. Still, this is one of the only sources we have."
"Just by saying that, that you may never be an expert? You're wiser than most. Wiser than Mercy, I might add. Being willing to still learn is a key to actually knowing." She reached up to tap her lips. "I suspect that the bonds only really cause pain when they're ill conceived. When the psyches aren't meant to be joined safely. Those two shouldn't be bound. Maul isn't mentally stable enough for it."
"And I'm pretty sure the guy who raised Maul had been tearing at Anakin's psyche for a while," Ezra mutters. "So, yeah, that's a bad combination."
"I haven't made a blood pact bond with anyone here yet. Force bonds can just sorta...happen. Or, I'm pretty sure you can keep yourself closed off enough they don't happen, but that's not how I've been living my life for a while. I dunno. The blood bond seems different enough I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, as something I want to get into."
"Wait... they had the same... oh, no. That would be extremely bad," she said, shaking her head firmly. "That's like heaping the bad on the bad. Whatever my thoughts of sith philosophy, everything I know of that man is not good for anyone."
She could be rather forgiving of sith practice and philosophy, but Palpatine was an ass. "Most likely, the the blood bonds are themselves intentional at least by one party and more permanent, given the primacy of blood magic here. But we don't need to reach a judgment on it right now so much as figure out how to remove it from them. Have you had any luck thus far?"
"Sidious was cheerfully ruining entire planets and committing genocides when I was home last," Ezra says, with sharp, bitter not at all amused 'humor'.
He rubs at his face and switches to the more immediate topic. "I've seen some references to cutting and blades. Not sure how literal that is supposed to be."
She nodded, moving to the more pressing topic. Sidious was something for another time. The topic of cutting and blades made her frown and she took one of the copies of the Blade that the two of them had, setting it down. "It's strange that it talks of such things as it relates to this artifact. I've seen butter knives that have more edge to them," she said, running her finger on the flat of the edge. "Perhaps the object has some sort of spiritual significance, though I haven't attempted to use it on a living being yet. Have you?"
"We don't exactly have monsters that are easily accessible and even then, there's both considerable peril if it causes no harm and ethical issues. I could test the edge on a digit. Just the barest touch, and we could see if that actually penetrates or causes something." Baby steps. this kind of experimentation required baby steps.
Ezra has ethical concerns about the 'monsters' too, at this point, since apparently beast hood can at least sometimes be recovered from, but decides that he's not going to argue the point.
"Well...if you're sure, I won't try to stop you. Do you want me to do the wielding, or do you want to try it on yourself?"
Honestly, she at least partially shared those concerns. One couldn't be sure if a monster wasn't a transformed friend. So, this might be better. She considered the possibilities for a moment and then offered him her copy of the blade.
"I want you to hold it steady. I believe it needs to be wielded. that much is clear. We can test just a thumb at the edge to see if there's impact there," she said, concentrating a little. "One step at a time, to see what this thing actually does and cuts, or if it's a glorified showpiece."
